Social Contribution Activities
The Sumitomo Corporation Group’s Basic Principles on Social Contribution Activities
- OBJECTIVE
- We, as a global organization, will work on social issues through our business activities and social contribution activities with the aim of building a sustainable society by implementing the Sumitomo Corporation Group’s Management Principles and Activity Guidelines.
- ACTIVITIES
- We will engage in social contribution activities aimed at developing the next generation of human resources who will drive the sustainable development of society, and contributing to local communities in areas we do business all over the world. We will also take part in various activities as a good corporate citizen.
- APPROACH
- We will perform and seek to continuously improve our activities with modesty and high aspirations and endeavor to maintain a high level of transparency while strengthening our relationships with all our stakeholders.
Participation in Otemachi Place District Cleanup Activities
Sumitomo Corporation Global Metals has been participating in the outdoor district cleaning activities at Otemachi Place since FY2024, as part of the environmental improvement and beautification initiatives. For FY2025, a total of six sessions are scheduled.
The first session was held on Friday, June 6, as part of Chiyoda Ward’s Spring Community Cleaning Campaign. Five employees from our company joined the building perimeter cleaning activity organized by the Otemachi Place Management Association and conducted approximately 30 minutes of litter collection.
The second session took place on Wednesday, October 8, in accordance with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government’s Ordinance for Promoting Attractive Urban Landscapes. Five employees from our company participated alongside representatives from other tenant companies, working in groups to collect litter around the building for about 40 minutes.
We will continue to actively participate in the remaining two cleaning sessions scheduled for the second half of this fiscal year, reinforcing our commitment to social contribution as a member of the local community.
Volunteering at the Osaka Marathon 2024 (12th Osaka Marathon)
Osaka Marathon 2024 (12th Osaka Marathon) was held on February 25, 2024.
Sumitomo Corporation Group has been participating as a group volunteer since the first marathon, and Sumitomo Corporation Global Metals also participated in this event as a member of the group and supplied water at the 7.8 km mark.
As a member of the local community, we will continue to actively engage in a variety of activities to contribute to the local community.
Participation in Cleanup Activities at Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park
Prior to the Peace Memorial Ceremony held on August 6th every year, a collective cleanup activity takes place in and around the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park, organized by Hiroshima City and the Hiroshima City Public Health Promotion Council. This event aims to promote peace awareness and enhance hospitality.
As a member of the Sumitomo Corporation Group, Sumitomo Corporation Global Metals participates in this cleanup activity each year. This year, on July 27th, approximately 2,000 people joined the effort, spending about an hour picking up litter and pulling out weeds.
We, as a company, will continue to actively engage in various social contribution activities as a part of the local community, contributing to the well-being of our community.
Participation in the Midosuji Sculpture & Roadside Cleanup Activities in Autumn
Autumn Midosuji Sculpture & Roadside Cleanup” was held on October 19.
This event is organized by Osaka City and Midosuji Machizukuri Network (*) for the purpose of revitalizing and beautifying Osaka Midosuji Avenue, with 150 participants this year.
As a member of the Sumitomo Corporation Group, three members of Sumitomo Corporation Global Metals participates in this cleanup activity.
On the day of the event, under pleasant autumn weather, we spent about an hour from 8:00 a.m. picking up trash along Midosuji Avenue and maintaining sculptures.
As a member of the local community, we will continue to actively engage in various social contribution activities and contribute to the local community.
(*) Midosuji Machizukuri Network is comprised of more than 40 companies with real estate along Midosuji from Yodoyabashi to Honmachi in Osaka, and Sumitomo Corporation joined in October 2021.
Participation in Exhibition at “SDGs AICHI EXPO 2023”
As one of the official partners of the Sumitomo Corporation Group, we exhibited at the “SDGs AICHI EXPO 2023” (https://sdgs-aichi.com/) held at the Aichi Sky Expo (Aichi International Exhibition Center) for three days from October 5 to October 7, 2023.
This expo aims to create the power to solve various issues to realize a sustainable society, such as carbon neutrality, circular economy, biodiversity, multicultural conviviality, and regional development, by promoting communication and networking among multiple actors and generations, including companies, local governments NPOs, high schools, and universities.
We aims to be a company that provides higher value to society through our business in order to solve the problems of society and people.
