Generating synergies with a lineup covering everything from steel sheets to components
In addition to international trading of hot-rolled steel sheets, cold-rolled steel sheets, surface-treated steel sheets, and stainless steel sheets, we manage and operate steel service centers and companies that process construction materials and other products. By handling everything from raw materials to finished products and by collaborating with Sumitomo Corporation’s hot-dip galvanized steel sheet and colored steel sheet manufacturing subsidiaries, we have achieved outstanding synergy in various aspects of our business, including procurement, inventory, processing, supply, and communication, in order to meet the needs of a wide range of business partners, including automobile manufacturers, electrical appliance manufacturers, construction material manufacturers, and pipe manufacturers.
Our steel service centers serve a variety of overseas industries.
In order to use thin steel sheets, they need to be processed from large coils and sheets into the correct size and shape that the customer wants to use, and this is where our steel service centers become indispensable. The steel service centers of the Sumitomo Corporation Group serve the businesses of our diverse customers around the world through procurement and inventory services that utilize our global network, processing services that accommodate their needs, and logistics services that provide just-in-time delivery. From the perspective of environmental sustainability, we also proactively offer our customers solutions that utilize environmentally friendly materials.
Semi-finished Products Business
Supplying semi-finished products to steel manufacturers
Semi-finished products produced during upstream portions of the steelmaking process can greatly impact the production planning of steel manufacturers. By dealing in slabs and other semi-finished products, we act as a bridge between steel manufacturers, and our work has expanded to include proposals for equipment and initiatives for becoming carbon neutral in the future. To meet the diverse needs of our customers, we also provide semi-finished products from a variety of supply sources, and not just products exported from Japan.
Electrical Steel Sheet Business
Electrical steel — a key material for energy and mobility infrastructure
Tighter global environmental regulations and the growing demand for electricity are driving demand for highly efficient transformers and motors, which in turn is increasing demand for high quality electrical steel. We are engaged in trade and processing operations that utilize Sumitomo Corporation Group’s supply chain in order to expand our electrical steel business worldwide, and we are working to further expand our business to include high-grade electrical steel for electric vehicles.
Tin Mill Products Business
Tin mill products — widely used in everyday products like canned goods
Tin mill products are widely used in products very familiar to consumers, including cans for food and beverages as well as toys and candy boxes. They excel in corrosion resistance, coating ability, printability, and recyclability.
We provide tin mill products and related materials all over the world. Furthermore, we are enhancing our business by collaborating with Sumitomo Corporation’s tin mill production company in China.
